Ryan: $330,000 in Illinois FIRST Projects for Kendall, Kane Counties

Press Release - Wednesday, October 11, 2000

SPRINGFIELD -- Governor George H. Ryan announced today that he is releasing $330,000 in Illinois FIRST funding for projects in Kendall and Kane counties, including $130,000 to the Troy Fire Protection District for the purchase of a new ambulance that will replace outdated equipment.

The District serves the residents of Troy Township and other parts of Kendall County. The new ALS ambulance will be more compatible with other modern emergency equipment now used by the District.

Other Illinois FIRST grants announced by Ryan:

  • $100,000 to the City of Plano to help construct a storm sewer system in the Rock Creek Subdivision. The homes in this area were constructed in the 1950s when no storm sewers were required, and as a result, the subdivision is plagued by frequent floods and standing water. The project is also receiving a $75,000 grant from state capital funds.

  • $100,000 to the City of Yorkville to install an early warning weather system with sirens that will reach the entire community. In addition, a lighting protection system will be installed at all recreational areas and schools.

All of these Illinois FIRST projects were initiated by State Rep. Tom Cross, R-Yorkville.
