Ryan: $1.2 Million in Illinois FIRST Projects for Lake County

SPRINGFIELD -- Governor George H. Ryan announced today that he is releasing $1,201,400 in Illinois FIRST funding for projects in Lake County, including $650,000 to Antioch Township to construct a new building to house a senior center, township offices and the school district administrative center. The township is contributing $2,145,044.

This Illinois FIRST project was initiated by State Rep. Timothy H. Osmond, R-Antioch.

Other Illinois FIRST grants announced by Ryan:

  • $250,000 to the Bonnie Brook Fire Protection District to purchase a new fire truck. The district is contributing $50,000.
    This project was initiated by State Sen. Adeline J. Geo-Karis, R-Zion.

  • $140,400 to the Village of Libertyville to renovate its Central Park playground.
    This project was initiated by Geo-Karis.

  • $95,000 to the Village of Wauconda to conduct a feasibility study for the installation of sanitary sewers for the Elmcrest Subdivision.
    This project was initiated by State Rep. Mark H. Beaubien, R-Barrington Hills.

  • $25,000 to Lake Forest High School to assist in renovating its auditorium.
    This project was initiated by State Rep. Susan Garrett, D-Lake Forest.

  • $20,000 to the Antioch Public Library to purchase new books.
    This project was initiated by Osmond.

  • $10,000 to Waukegan Township to renovate, repair and purchase equipment for the township's "Art Bus", a forum in which area youth can be introduced to art in their neighborhoods.
    This project was initiated by Osmond.

  • $10,000 to the Winthrop Harbor Police Department to purchase three mobile radar units.
    This project was initiated by Geo-Karis.

  • $1,000 to the National Family Partnership of Deerfield to conduct a leadership training program for students at three middle schools in Deerfield. The organization is contributing $14,000.
    This project was initiated by State Rep. Karen May, D-Highland Park.
