Ryan: $134,000 in Illinois FIRST Projects for the Northwest Suburbs
SPRINGFIELD -- Governor George H. Ryan announced today that he is releasing $134,000 in Illinois FIRST funding for projects in the Northwest Suburbs, including $55,000 to the Des Plaines Community Senior Center to purchase a 22-seat bus to transport seniors to and from the senior center, the downtown area, condominiums and nursing and retirement homes. The center is contributing $82,890.
This Illinois FIRST project was initiated by State Sen. Dave Sullivan, R-Mt. Prospect.
Other Illinois FIRST grants announced by Ryan:
- $50,000 to Lattof International YMCA to convert an office area into a teen arcade/computer room.
This project was initiated by Sullivan. - $19,000 to William Rainey Harper College for architectural and engineering studies of its new Science Center.
- $10,000 to the Park Ridge Teen Center to purchase publicity materials and recreation equipment.
This project was initiated by Sullivan.
