Ryan Makes Appointments to Toll Highway Authority

CHICAGO -- Governor George H. Ryan today announced appointments to the Illinois Toll Highway Authority.
Gov. Ryan is reappointing board member Carl J. Kramp of Downers Grove, and is appointing Julie A. Martines McKevitt of Barrington Hills, Arthur George Pradel of Naperville, and Katherine D. Selcke of Hinsdale.
Mr. Kramp, 67, is a director on the Board of the First National Bank of Elmhurst. Mr. Kramp has been reappointed to a second term, which ends on May 1, 2005.
Ms. Martines McKevitt, 35, is the owner/president of Will Rent Inc. She is a member of several civic committees including the Federation of Women Contractors, Mexican American Chamber of Commerce, Illinois Road Builders, and the American Sub-Contractors Association. Ms. McKevitt's term lasts until May 1, 2003, and she is replacing Paula Fasseas.
Mr. Pradel, 64, is the Mayor of Naperville. The former Naperville Police lieutenant is also a member of the Illinois and DuPage County Police Associations. Mr. Pradel, who is replacing board member Gordon Volkman, will serve on the board until May 1, 2003.
Ms. Selcke, 49, is a consultant and the former Deputy Governor for Program and Planning under Governor Ryan. Selcke served as Deputy Chief of Staff under Governor Thompson and later under Secretary of State George Ryan. She began working in state
government as a Legislative Budget Analyst in the Illinois House of Representatives. Selcke is replacing Lance Wyatt and will serve on the commission until her term ends on May 1, 2005.
"I'm grateful these individuals have accepted these appointments. Their diverse backgrounds and experiences will help them deal with the wide range of challenging issues facing the Board," Gov. Ryan said.
The Board members are responsible for helping set policies and planning for the authority as well as overseeing the construction, maintenance, and operations of the Illinois Toll Highway System. Members are subject to Senate confirmation under a four-year term and paid a general salary of $27,778.24 dollars.
