Ryan: $1.2 Million in Illinois FIRST Projects for DuPage County

SPRINGFIELD -- Governor George H. Ryan announced today that he is releasing $1,292,500 in Illinois FIRST funding for projects in DuPage County, including $500,000 to the Village of Oak Brook to purchase and install a heating, ventilation and air-conditioning system in its new addition to the village hall.

The new addition will consolidate, upgrade and improve the administrative, law enforcement and fire department headquarters.

This project was initiated by State Sen. Thomas J. Walsh, R-LaGrange Park.

Other Illinois FIRST grants announced by Ryan:

  • $250,000 to the Village of Oak Brook to purchase and install a new heating, ventilation and air-conditioning system in its new addition to the village hall.
    This project was initiated by State Rep. James B. Durkin, R-Westchester.

  • $230,000 to the Village of Bloomingdale to engineer and install a fully actuated, interconnected traffic signal at the intersection of US Route 20 and Lakeview Drive/Euclid Avenue.
    This project was initiated by State Rep. Kathleen L. "Kay" Wojcik, R-Schaumburg.

  • $122,500 to the Wood Dale Park District to construct a preschool wing to its new recreation complex at 111 East Foster.
    This project was initiated by House Republican Leader Lee Daniels, Elmhurst.

  • $100,000 to the Village of Glen Ellyn to purchase property at 820 North Main Street for use by the Glen Ellyn Historical Society. The Village of Glen Ellyn and the Glen Ellyn Historical Society are contributing $150,000.
    This project was initiated by State Rep. Vincent A. Persico, R-Glen Ellyn.

  • $35,000 to the Lake County Metropolitan Enforcement Group to hire a full time employee who will perform community outreach programs and educate the community about the dangers of club drugs.
    This project was initiated by Daniels.

  • $30,000 to the Village of Winfield Police Department to purchase computer software, modules and mobile data terminals.
    This project was initiated by State Rep. Randall M. Hultgren, R-Wheaton.

  • $15,000 to Respite House, a not-for-profit corporation that provides temporary respite care for medically fragile children, to implement a marketing program.
    This project was initiated by State Rep. Patricia "Patti" Bellock, R-Hinsdale.

  • $5,000 to the Addison VFW Post 7446 to purchase tables and chairs for its facility.
    This project was initiated by Daniels.

  • $5,000 to Lisle Park District for wetland improvements at River Bend Golf Course.
    This project was initiated by Hultgren.
