$1.8 Million in Illinois FIRST Projects for Lake County
SPRINGFIELD -- Governor George H. Ryan announced today that he is releasing $1.821 million in Illinois FIRST funding for projects in Lake County, including $525,000 to the City of Highwood to purchase a new aerial ladder truck with extrication equipment and additional life support equipment.
This Illinois FIRST project was initiated by State Sen. Terry Link, D-Vernon Hills.
Other Illinois FIRST grants announced by Ryan:
- $200,000 to the Village of Long Grove to fund a portion of the Long Grove Historic Business District Approved Streetscape Plan.
This project was initiated by State Sen. William E. Peterson, R-Long Grove. - $200,000 to the Village of Lake Barrington to make improvements to the intersection of Grandview Drive and Route 59.
This project was initiated by State Rep. Mark H. Beaubien, R-Barrington Hills. - $166,000 to the Northern Illinois Police Alarm System to purchase an armored response vehicle.
This project was initiated by State Rep. Lauren Beth Gash, D-Highland Park. - $150,000 to the Lake County Family YMCA to construct a child care/classroom facility at the Vernon Hills facility. The YMCA Corporation is contributing $3.5 million.
This project was initiated by Senate President James "Pate" Philip, R-Wood Dale. - $125,000 to the Village of Libertyville to expand the parking lot at Butler Lake Park. The village is contributing $75,000.
This project was initiated by State Rep. Andrea Moore, R-Libertyville. - $75,000 to the Village of Deer Park to purchase 14.6 acres of a centennial farm that will be preserved for educational and cultural purposes. The village is contributing $423,250.
This project was initiated by State Rep. Sidney H. Mathias, R-Buffalo Grove. - $75,000 to Lake Zurich to install street lighting on the Mohawk Trail Road extension. The village is contributing $16,909.
This project was initiated by Peterson. - $50,000 to the Northern Illinois Council on Alcoholism & Substance Abuse to enhance its existing "Teen Court" program.
This program was initiated by Link. - $50,000 to the Lake Villa School District to upgrade and enhance its computers and library media programs. The district is contributing $40,000.
This project was initiated by State Rep. Timothy H. Osmond, R-Antioch. - $50,000 to the Village of Winthrop Harbor to make street improvements. The village is contributing $243,850.
This project was initiated by Osmond. - $45,000 to Daisy's Resource Development Center to support its "Vocational/Self-sufficiency" program. The county is contributing $50,000.
This program was initiated by State Rep. Susan Garrett, D-Lake Forest and Link. - $25,000 to the Lake County State's Attorney's Office to implement a domestic/child prevention program.
This project was initiated by Osmond. - $25,000 to Antioch Consolidated School District #34 to update their four computer labs.
This project was initiated by Osmond. - $25,000 to the Countryside Association for the Handicapped to purchase a new paratransit shuttle bus.
This project was initiated by Link. - $25,000 to the North Shore Senior Center to make its building fully accessible and ADA compliant.
