Ryan Makes Appointments To Boards And Commissions

SPRINGFIELD - Governor George H. Ryan today announced the following appointments to Illinois boards and commissions:

To the Advanced Practice Nursing Board:

* George H. Paige, 68, of Crete, an appointment for a term ending August 31, 2003. Paige is retired from the U.S. Postal Service.

Members of the Advanced Practice Nursing Board are paid expenses only. The appointment does not require Senate confirmation.

To the Advisory Board to the Department of Natural Resources:

* Dr. John J. Swalec, 65, of Batavia, an appointment for a term ending January 16, 2006. Swalec is President of Waubonsee Community College.

Members of the Advisory Board to the Department of Natural Resources are paid expenses only. The appointment does not require Senate confirmation.

To the Advisory Council on the Education of Children with Disabilities:

* Venus D. Ellerson Austin, 49, of Chicago, an appointment for a term ending June 30, 2001. Austin is a School Social Worker.

* Jan Cleveland, 53, of Carmi, an appointment for a term ending June 30, 2002. Cleveland is a Special Education Teacher.

* Sheila Romano, 37, of Naperville, an appointment for a term ending October 1, 2000. Romano is Executive Director of the Illinois Planning Council on Developmental Disabilities.

To the Capital Development Board:

* Michael Skoubis, 39, of Des Plaines, an appointment for a term ending January 19, 2004. Skoubis is a partner/attorney at Skoubis & Skoubis, LTD.

To the Illinois Clean Energy Community Trust:

* Pete Peters, 64, of Chicago, designated as Chairman for a term ending December 13, 2004. Peters is a retired Illinois State Representative.

To the Illinois Council on Aging:

* Joyce Flynn-Childress, 66, of Aurora, an appointment for a term ending January 1, 2003. Flynn-Childress is a Registered Nurse and Staff Educator at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
