Ryan: $532,000 in Illinois FIRST Projects for Southern Illinois
SPRINGFIELD -- Governor George H. Ryan announced today that he is releasing $532,000 in Illinois FIRST funding for projects in Southern Illinois, including $200,000 to the City of Mt. Carmel to help fund two water main projects that will promote local commercial and residential development and improve traffic safety.
This Illinois FIRST project was initiated by State Rep. John Jones, R-Mt. Vernon.
Other Illinois FIRST grants announced by Ryan:
- $150,000 to the Frankfort Community Unit School District 186 to replace its outdated drywell-wetwell station.
This project was initiated by State Sen. Larry Woolard, D-Carterville. - $100,000 to Saline County to complete land acquisition for an industrial park.
This project was initiated by Woolard. - $50,000 to the Village of Bonnie to make emergency repairs to its water tower and remodel its community building.
This project was initiated by Jones. - $25,000 to the Village of Broughton to replace deteriorating road culverts and make various road improvements.
This project was initiated by Woolard. - $5,000 to Mounted Miracles, Ltd. in Addieville to assist in its equestrian recreational therapy program for children.
This project was initiated by State Rep. Dan Reitz, D-Sparta. - $2,000 to the Western Egyptian Economic Opportunity Council, Inc. to purchase a copy machine and desk for its senior activity club.
