Liquor Control Commission May Underage Compliance Report

SPRINGFIELD – In May the Illinois Liquor Control Commission (ILCC) conducted compliance checks around the state and visited 367 businesses licensed to sell liquor.  They cited 62 for violations of liquor control laws.  Eighty-three percent of the licensees visited complied with Illinois liquor laws and refused to serve underage customers.

This report is a result of ongoing undercover and cooperative law enforcement operations conducted by Illinois Liquor Control Commission (ILCC) agents and local law enforcement officials and volunteers from high schools and colleges.  The teams randomly visit liquor stores, restaurants and bars in communities around the state to check for ongoing compliance with state laws mandating that no liquor is sold to minors under the age of 21. ILCC agents also work with local and state law enforcement agents to focus on communities with a high incidence of underage liquor sales.

Berwyn – May 29, the ILCC and the Berwyn Police Department conducted underage alcohol compliance checks in Berwyn, Cook County. Of the 12 licensees checked, four sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

• Barra Bar & Grill, Inc., 6233 W. Roosevelt Rd.
• RDK Ventures, LLC, 6405 W. Roosevelt Rd.
• Lakha Management, Inc., 7143 W. Roosevelt Rd.
• Kladas, Inc. 6741 W. Stanley.

Boone and McHenry Counties -- May 16, the ILCC and the Secretary of State Police Dist. #1 conducted underage alcohol checks in Boone & McHenry Counties.  Of the 11 licensees checked, three sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

• Sam’s B.P., 501 Division Street Harvard, 60033
• Grace Groceries, 711 E. Diggins Street Harvard, 60033
• Jagruti Patel, 360 S. Division Street Harvard, 60033


Chicago Heights – May 29, the LCC along with Chicago Heights Police Department conducted underage alcohol checks.   Seven licensees were checked and one sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. That licensee was:

• Emporium Liquors, 87 Joe Orr Road, Chicago Heights 60411

Cicero – May 1, the ILCC, SOS Police and the Cicero Police Department conducted underage alcohol checks in Cicero, Cook County. Of the 15 licensees checked, two sold alcohol to LCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

• Cork and Cap Tap, 1501 S. 51st St.
• Knotty Pine Inn, 3501 S. 55th Ct.
• Manuel’s Bar, 500 12th St. 60064

DeKalb – May 1, the ILCC and the DeKalb Police department conducted an alcohol underage compliance check in DeKalb. Of the 14 licensees checked, two sold to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

• CVS Pharmacy, 1022 W. Lincoln
• Burritoville, 1026 W Hillcrest

Edwardsville – May 31, the ILCC and the Edwardsville Police Department conducted underage alcohol checks in Edwardsville. Of the seven locations checked, none sold alcohol to Edwardsville PD underage participants.

Effingham and Cumberland Counties – May 14, the Illinois State Police Division of Investigation conducted underage alcohol compliance checks in Effingham & Cumberland Counties. Of the 43 licensees checked, seven licensees sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

• Jumpin Jimmy’s, 2303 S. Banker, Effingham
• Ichabod’s Bar & Grill, 1714 S. Banker, Effingham
• Pizza Hut # 2823, 205 S. Keller, Effingham
• B & L Liquors, 100 W Fayette, Effingham
• Sporty’s Beverage, 8745 N 300, Altamont
• Beecher City Foodliner, 107 Charles, Beecher City

 
Effingham, Marion, and Fayette Counties – May 8, the ILCC and the Illinois State Police District # 12 conducted underage alcohol compliance checks in Marion, Fayette and Effingham Counties. Of the 33 licensees checked, five sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

• Lake Side Restaurant & Marina, 6848 Omega Rd., Kimmundy
• Legends/Denny’s, 1812 W. Main, Salem
• JB Slo Joe’s Hideout, 1204 Adams, Junction City
• Bub’s Pub, 301 N. Main, Sandoval

Evanston – May 29, the ILCC and the Evanston Police Department conducted underage alcohol checks in Evanston in Cook County. Of the 23 licensees checked, two sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

              • La Macchina Café 1620 Orrington

Fairview Heights – May 22, the ILCC and the Fairview Heights Police Department conducted underage alcohol compliance checks in Fairview Heights. Of the 20 licensees checked, four sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

• Circle K # 1344, 10010 Bunkum Rd.
• BP Fairview Heights, 6400 N. Illinois
• Schnuck’s # 144, 625 Lincoln Hwy.
• Fairview Liquor, 5329 N Illinois

Franklin County – May 19, the ILCC and the Illinois State Police District # 13 conducted underage compliance checks in Franklin County. Of the 28 licensees checked, seven sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

• Zeigler Petro, 407 S. Main, Zeigler
• Casey General Store # 2059, 502 S. Victor, Christopher
• Ground Zero Bar, 206 E. Market, Christopher
• Russell Oil Co., 1201 W. Main, West Frankfort
• Logan Street Liquors, 502 S. Logan, West Frankfort
• Circle K # 1223, 224 N Main, Benton
• Hoot N Hollar, 107 Lewis Dr., Benton

 
Freeport -- May 30, the ILCC and the Secretary of State Police conducted underage alcohol checks in the city of Freeport (Stephenson County).  Of the 24 licensees checked, one sold alcohol to the ILCC underage volunteer. That licensee was:

• Cimino’s Little Italy, 421 N. Challenge, Freeport, IL 61032    

Lisle – May 15, ILCC and the Lisle Police Department conducted Underage Liquor Compliance checks in (DuPage County), Lisle.  Of the 21 establishments checked, one sold alcohol to the underage participants. The licensee that sold was:

• Hyatt Lisle, 1400 Corportem Drive

Mason County – May 16 the ILCC and the Illinois State Police District # 9 conducted underage alcohol compliance checks in Mason County. Of the 19 licensees checked, three sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

• Pat’s Tap, 316 W. Market, Havana
• Down the Street, 122 N Tonica, Mason City
• Stupid’s, 118 S. Tonica, Mason City

Montgomery and Oswego – May 15, the ILCC and Secretary of State Police conducted underage alcohol compliance checks in Montgomery & Oswego. Of the 13 licensees checked, two licensees sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

• Marathon (Keram Inc), 1 Boulder Hill, Montgomery
• Orchard Stop, 1700 Orchard, Montgomery

North Chicago –May 29, the ILCC and the Illinois State Police District 2 conducted underage alcohol checks in North Chicago within Lake County. Of the 10 licensee’s checked four sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

• Ratajack’s Liquor, 921 14th St. 60064
• VIP Food & Liquor, 1720 Sheridan Rd. 60064
• Frank’s Lounge, 2234 Greenbay Rd. 60064

Robbins – May 9, the ILCC and Robbins Police Department conducted underage alcohol checks in Robbins. Of the four licensees checked two sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

• Sala of IL INC, 3426 W. 135th St.
• OL’ Girlz Sports Grill, 13649 Claire Blvd.

Shelby and Coles Counties – May 21, the ILCC and the Illinois State Police District 10 conducted underage alcohol compliance checks in Shelby & Coles County. Of the 33 licensees checked, five sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

• Butch’s, 104 E. Division, Findlay
• R & K One Stop, 101 W Division, Findlay
• Lambo’s # 4, 100 Miller Rd., Mattoon
• Lambo’s # 2, 1202 Charleston, Mattoon

St. Clair County – May 21, the ILCC and the Illinois State Police District 11 conducted underage compliance checks in St Clair County. Of the 14 licensees checked, one sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. That licensee was:

• Pilot Travel Center, 820 Edwardsville Rd., Troy

Vermillion County – May 28, the ILCC and the Illinois State Police District # 10 conducted underage compliance checks in Vermilion County. Of the 13 licensees checked, four sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

• Boones Rankin, 104 S. Main, Rankin
• La Casa Del Sol, 1010 W. Chestnut, Hoopeston
• Casey’s General Store # 1775, 115 Orange, Hoopeston
• Casey’s General Store # 2637, 112 S. Chicago, Rossville

Woodford County – May 7, the ILCC and the Woodford County Sheriff’s Department conducted underage alcohol compliance checks in Woodford County. Of the 23 licensees checked, two sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

• Germantown Grille, 513 Jubilee Lane, Germantown Hills
• Aztekita, 128 N. Davenport St., Metamora
