Governor's Capital Punishment Commission to Continue Hearings

CHICAGO -- The Governor's Commission on Capital Punishment will continue its public hearings on 9 a.m., Wednesday, September 6 at the James R. Thompson Center, 100 W. Randolph.

More than forty witnesses testified and 200 people attended the commission's first, three-and-a-half hour August 2nd hearing at the Thompson Center.

The Sept. 6 public meeting will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Thompson Center's Assembly Hall Auditorium, Concourse Level. The meeting will be structured to allow as many of the remaining registered witnesses as possible to present their views to the Commission. Testimony will be limited to 3 minutes. A list of the witnesses and the schedule of their testimony will be posted on the Commission's website, which can be found at www.idoc.state.il.us/ccp.
