Governor Quinn Proclaims "Paul Konerko Day" Across Illinois

CHICAGO - Governor Pat Quinn today will join White Sox player Paul Konerko during a pregame ceremony to honor the retiring first baseman and proclaim today, September 27, 2014, as "Paul Konerko Day" in Illinois.

"Paul Konerko is a great baseball player, but an even better human being.

"While with the Chicago White Sox, he dedicated himself to his teammates and fans, to working hard on the baseball diamond and to the community.

"Together with his wife Jennifer, they have helped countless foster parents and children across Illinois. The Konerkos' big hearts have stretched well beyond our beloved south side ballpark.

"I thank Paul for the milestones and memories and officially proclaim today as ‘Paul Konerko Day' across Illinois."
