Statement on start of 99th General Assembly

SPRINGFIELD  - Governor Bruce Rauner issued the following statement on the convening of the 99th Illinois General Assembly.

“I want to congratulate all the members of the 99th General Assembly on their swearing in today. We have a historic opportunity to repair our state and make Illinois a leader in job creation, economic growth and education quality.  I look forward to working with all members to deliver bipartisan results for the people of Illinois.

I also want to congratulate President Cullerton, Speaker Madigan, Leader Radogno and Leader Durkin on their elections. I hope to work closely with them to make Illinois the most compassionate and competitive state in the nation.”
