Gov. Statement on Death of Decatur Mayor

SPRINGFIELD - Governor Bruce Rauner has issued the following statement on the death of Decatur Mayor Mike McElroy:

"Mayor Mike McElroy was a champion for the city of Decatur, and I was saddened to hear about his tragic death this morning. It is a true loss for the community. "Tuna" was a strong advocate for Decatur who was always excited and honored to show off his wonderful community to anyone who visited. His passion for the community was infectious - he loved working for the people of Decatur. He was a wonderful friend to me and Diana. We send our thoughts and prayers to his family and the community during this difficult time."
