$529,000 in Illinois FIRST Projects for North Central Illinois
SPRINGFIELD -- Governor George H. Ryan announced today that he is releasing $529,000 in Illinois FIRST funding for projects in North Central Illinois, including $227,500 to the LaFayette Community Fire Protection District to purchase a new pumper truck and accommodating equipment to replace the obsolete equipment.
This Illinois FIRST project was initiated by State Sen. Carl E. Hawkinson, R-Galesburg and State Rep. David R. Leitch, R-Peoria.
Other Illinois FIRST grants announced by Ryan:
- $100,000 to the City of Kewanee to purchase and clear 75 acres of land that will be used for a new industrial/business park.
This project was initiated by Leitch. - $100,000 to the City of Kewanee to replace a deteriorating sewer main.
This project was initiated by Leitch. - $30,000 to the Central Illinois Landmarks Foundation in Peoria to repair the G.A.R. Hall, which is used for various community programs and events.
This project was initiated by Leitch. - $30,000 to the Forrest Strawn Wing Fire Protection District to purchase a new fire truck.
This project was initiated by State Rep. Dan Rutherford, R-Pontiac. - $25,000 to the Village of Cornell to conduct a facility planning study for the construction of a wastewater collection and treatment system.
This project was initiated by Rutherford. - $16,500 to the Village of Bartonville Police Department to purchase six radio systems for its fleet of squad cars.
This project was initiated by State Sen. George P. Shadid, D-Edwards.
