$1.1 Million in Illinois FIRST Projects for East Central Illinois

SPRINGFIELD -- Governor George H. Ryan announced today that he is releasing $1,119,500 in Illinois FIRST funding for projects in East Central Illinois, including $300,000 to the Village of Westville to make water system improvements.

The upgrade will include replacing two of its four water pumps, some current water mains and the installation of new water mains. These improvements will insure system reliability and water quality for 3,387 persons.

This Illinois FIRST project was initiated by State Rep. William B. Black, R-Danville.

Other Illinois FIRST grants announced by Ryan:

  • $185,000 to the Tri County Fire Protection District to purchase a new fire truck and equipment.
    This project was initiated by State Rep. Bill Mitchell, R-Forsyth.

  • $170,000 to the Kickapoo Fire Protection District to purchase a new fire truck and fire suits.
    This project was initiated by State Sen. Judith A. Myers, R-Danville.

  • $100,000 to the Lynch Fire Protection District to purchase a new pumper truck.
    This project was initiated by Myers.

  • $155,000 to the City of Villa Grove to purchase and develop 55 acres of land for a community building and sports complex.
    This project was initiated by State Rep. Timothy V. Johnson, R-Urbana.

  • $70,000 to Cummberland County to purchase new warning sirens for the communities of Greenup, Toledo, Neoga and Jewitt.
    This project was initiated by Mitchell.

  • $51,000 to the Macon County Conservation District to repair and paint the Governor Oglesby Mansion in Decatur.
    This project was initiated by State Rep. Julie A. Curry, D-Mt. Zion.

  • $40,000 to the Village of Sidell to purchase and upgrade equipment and facilities at the local ball park.
    This project was initiated by Myers.

  • $25,000 to the Herrick First Responders to purchase fire rescue and safety gear.
    This project was initiated by State Sen. Duane Noland, R-Decatur.

  • $19,500 to the City of Hoopeston to purchase an outdoor warning system.
    This project was initiated by Myers.

  • $4,000 to the City of Martinsville to purchase office equipment for the city hall.
    This project was initiated by Myers.
