Ryan: $940,000 in Illinois FIRST Projects for Lake County

SPRINGFIELD -- Governor George H. Ryan announced today that he is releasing $940,000 in Illinois FIRST funding for projects in Lake County, including $400,000 to the City of Highland Park to make street, curb, gutter, sidewalk and storm sewer line repairs in the Chantilly subdivision. The city is contributing $50,000.

This Illinois FIRST project was initiated by State Rep. Karen May, D-Highland Park.

Other Illinois FIRST grants announced by Ryan:

  • $300,000 to the City of North Chicago Police Department to upgrade its Enhanced 9-1-1 system and to renovate its headquarters. The city is contributing $248,295.
    This project was initiated by State Sen. Terry Link, D-Vernon Hills.

  • $125,000 to the Village of Fox Lake to install a new roof, a heating/air-conditioning system and a fire sprinkler system at its police station/village hall. The village is contributing $22,457.
    This project was initiated by State Rep. Mark H. Beaubien, R-Barrington Hills.

  • $50,000 to the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago to purchase and install three freezers, a supply of food and to make electrical repairs for the Council for Jewish Elderly. The Charles & M.R. Shapiro Foundation is contributing $50,000.
    This project was initiated by May.

  • $25,000 to the Long Grove Park District to construct a pedestrian crossing and remove debris at Indian Creek alongside Route 83 and to purchase and install benches and signage.
    This project was initiated by State Rep. Sidney H. Mathias, R-Buffalo Grove.

  • $20,000 to the Aptakisic-Tripp Community Consolidated District 102 to hire teachers for curriculum writing. The district is contributing $20,000.
    This project was initiated by May.
