SPRINGFIELD -- Governor George H. Ryan announced today that he is releasing $140,000 in Illinois FIRST funding for projects in the Rockford Area, including $125,000 to the Village of Somonauk to install a water main extension under the BNSF railway along Route 34 to provide required fire protection for the Somonauk School. The village is contributing $194,500.
This Illinois FIRST project was initiated by State Sen. Bradley Burzynski, R-Sycamore.
Other Illinois FIRST grants announced by Ryan:
$15,000 to the Opportunity House, Inc.,Sycamore, to make improvements to its main building and group home. The corporation is contributing $28,120. This project was initiated by State Rep. David A. Wirsing, R-Sycamore.
