Ryan: $3.2 Million in Illinois FIRST Projects for Central Illinois

SPRINGFIELD -- Governor George H. Ryan announced today that he is releasing $3.255 million in Illinois FIRST funding for projects in Central Illinois, including $3,000,000 to Menard County to construct a wastewater collection, pumping and treatment system for the Lake Petersburg area.

The new system will eliminate the use of septic tanks and aeration systems by residents and ensure the health and safety of the community by properly removing the untreated waste.

Other Illinois FIRST grants announced by Ryan:

  • $250,000 to the Williamsville Community Unit School District 15 to construct a sports complex. The district is contributing $50,000.
    This project was initiated by State Rep. Raymond Poe, R-Springfield.

  • $5,000 to the City of Athens to assist with the community's Daily Meals on Wheels program.
    This project was initiated by Poe.
