Ryan: $225,000 in Illinois FIRST Projects for the Northwest Suburbs

SPRINGFIELD -- Governor George H. Ryan announced today that he is releasing $225,000 in Illinois FIRST funding for projects in the Northwest Suburbs, including $100,000 to the Chicago Horticultural Society to restore an eroding shoreline and to establish aquatic planting beds at the Chicago Botanic Garden. The society is contributing $210,000.

This Illinois FIRST project was initiated by State Sen. Kathleen K. Parker, R-Northbrook.

Other Illinois FIRST grants announced by Ryan:

  • $65,000 to the Police Neighborhood Resource Center to hire caseworkers for the City of Rolling Meadows Police Department in support of its programs.
    This project was initiated by State Rep. Terry R. Parke, R-Hoffman Estates.

  • $50,000 to the Children's Advocacy Center of Northwest Cook County to purchase computers and office equipment, furniture, books and supplies.
    This project was initiated by State Sen. Dave Sullivan, R-Mt Prospect.

  • $10,000 to the Park Ridge Teen Center to purchase an entertainment center, furniture, carpet, lighting, and a computer and games.
    This project was initiated by State Rep. Rosemary Mulligan, R-Des Plaines.
