Ryans Release 2001 Income Tax Returns

CHICAGO -- Gov. George H. Ryan and First Lady Lura Lynn Ryan today made public their federal and state income tax returns for 2001.

The Ryans' returns show they paid $40,446 in federal and state taxes. The Ryans' adjusted gross income for 2001 was $160,887. That included $16,780 for which the Governor and Mrs. Ryan paid federal taxes for items and gifts purchased by the Citizens for Ryan Campaign Committee for occasions such as Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries and funeral condolences.

The Ryans paid $35,025 in federal taxes and are owed a refund of $645. They paid $5,421 in state taxes and are owed a refund of $1,531.
