An Act Concerning: The Higher Education Assistance Act

Description: Amends the Higher Education Assistance Act to increase the statutory bond debt ceiling from $3.5 billion to $5 billion for the Illinois Student Assistance Commission.

Bill No.: SB 978

An Act Concerning: The Illinois Vehicle Code

Description: Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code.  For student safety purposes, allows the Illinois Department of Transportation to lower the speed limit of a highway under State jurisdiction that is contiguous to school property.  The lowered speed limit may apply to the portion of the highway contiguous to the school and the portions of the highway that extend one-quarter mile from the school property.  The Department may make such an alteration to speed limit upon the request of a school district.
