Governor awards $50,000 for firefighting equipment

Press Release - Thursday, February 05, 2004

CHICAGO - Governor Rod R. Blagojevich today awarded a $50,000 grant to the LaHarpe Fire Protection District to help pay for a new firefighting vehicle the department acquired.

"We want to ensure that firefighters in our communities have the most modern and reliable equipment available to them for when their services are needed," said Governor Blagojevich.

The LaHarpe Fire Protection District purchased a new, initial response vehicle in order to provide better service to residents of the district and to improve the safety of the volunteers operating the apparatus.  The District contracted with the Alexis Fire Equipment Company in Alexis, Illinois to build the new unit.

"I want to thank the Governor for providing this important funding for the LaHarpe Fire Protection District," said project sponsor State Representative Rich Myers.

"I'm pleased to have been able to lend my strong support for this important public safety project," said State Senator John Sullivan.
