Governor announces funding for Big Rock Historical Society

Press Release - Friday, February 06, 2004

CHICAGO - Governor Rod R. Blagojevich today announced a $12,500 grant to the Big Rock Historical Society to help offset costs associated with moving a donated home as part of a library and museum complex.  This is the final installment on a $25,000 grant for this project.

"I'm pleased that the State of Illinois is able to participate in this unique project that will preserve the history and culture of the community," said Governor Blagojevich.

The Big Rock Historical Society recently renovated a corncrib with an annex as part of its effort to establish a library and museum for the community.  The donated home will be moved to the site at 48W445 Hinckley Road in Big Rock to increase storage and display space.

State Representative Patricia Reid Lindner sponsored the project.  "I want to thank the Governor for providing this important funding.  The Big Rock Historical Society library is ensuring that history is alive and well in this special part of Illinois," said Lindner.
