Governor awards more than $45,000 to Village of Elburn

Press Release - Friday, February 06, 2004

CHICAGO - Governor Rod R. Blagojevich today awarded $45,791 to the Village of Elburn to construct sidewalks connecting several important locations along North Main Street.  This is the final installment on a $100,000 grant for this project.

"I'm glad the state can provide necessary resources for projects important to the public safety and quality of life in Elburn, including safe pedestrian access," said Governor Blagojevich.

The 4,000-foot pedestrian walkway connects the central business district, the commercial district, and the post office and community center.  Currently pedestrians must walk along the shoulder of Route 47 in order to access these areas.  A parking lane is also being constructed.

"Our main streets are an important source of community and commerce and I want to thank the Governor for approving these funds and allowing this project to move forward," said project sponsor State Representative Patricia Reid Lindner.
