Governor announces $50,000 grant to Fox Valley YMCA

Press Release - Friday, February 06, 2004

CHICAGO - Governor Rod R. Blagojevich today authorized a $50,000 grant to the Fox Valley YMCA to offset costs related to construction of a new childcare center.  This is the final installment on a $100,000 grant for this project.

"One of the issues facing Illinois families is finding safe, affordable and high quality child care," said Governor Blagojevich.  "This new center is going to go a long way in easing the burden on the working families in the Fox Valley ensuring their children are safe while they are at their jobs."

The new 11,000 square foot childcare center will be able to accommodate 115 children aged two to five for full day care.  In addition a preschool program for three and four year olds will serve forty children.  Currently there is only one full time childcare center in the community but none that work with at-risk or low-income children.

"This is a fantastic day for the families served by the Fox Valley YMCA.  Thanks to Governor Blagojevich for supporting this great project," said State Representative Patricia Reid Lindner who sponsored the project.
