Governor awards $40,000 to Oswegoland Park District

Press Release - Friday, February 06, 2004

CHICAGO - Governor Rod R. Blagojevich today awarded a $40,000 grant to the Oswegoland Park District for construction of a bicycle and pedestrian bridge across Waubonsie Creek.  The bridge will connect the Fox River Trail to Hudson Crossing Park and two adjacent, recently acquired properties.  This is the first installment on an $80,000 grant.

"I'm pleased to be able to release these funds in order for this project to move forward, improving the safety of those utilizing the bridge and enhancing the outdoors experience for those visiting the park," said Governor Blagojevich.

With construction of the new bridge, pedestrians and bicyclists will no longer have to use a vehicular bridge to cross the creek, increasing safety for residents who use the trails and park.  Grant funds will also be used for new security lighting throughout the park.

"This new bridge will open up a lot of new opportunities for bicyclists and pedestrians to explore the beauty of the Fox River Trail and so I want to thank the Governor for providing these funds and allowing this project to move forward," said State Representative Patricia Reid Lindner who currently represents the area. This project was originated by State Representative Tom Cross.
