Governor awards $8,000 to address housing issues in Litchfield

Press Release - Wednesday, March 31, 2004

CHICAGO - Governor Rod R. Blagojevich today awarded $8,000 to the Litchfield Park District for a housing needs survey.  The survey will provide an opportunity for the community to seek federal funding for the rehabilitation of vacant property into safe and affordable housing.

"I'm pleased to be able to support this effort in Litchfield to quantify their housing needs," said Governor Blagojevich. "This is a great example of the coordinated use of local, state and federal resources to improve a community."

The housing needs survey is required in order to apply for housing rehabilitation funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

"Rehabilitating vacant properties and turning them into decent, safe and affordable housing is going to help revitalize Litchfield and eventually expand the tax base," said State Senator Vince Demuzio who sponsored the grant.
