Governor Awards $37,500 to Spring Creek Fire District

CHICAGO  - Governor Blagojevich today announced $37,500 to the Spring Creek Fire District for the purchase of a new fire truck.
 
"Our firefighters put their lives on the line for the residents of their communities every day and they deserve to have the most modern equipment available to them in order to ensure the safety of community, residents and their property," said Governor Blagojevich. 
 
The Spring Creek Fire Protection District provides fire rescue service for approximately 1,000 residents of Nebo, IL and surrounding areas. The funds will be used to purchase a fire truck to replace its current truck, which is outdated and out of service.
 
"I would like to thank the Governor for providing the funding for the purchase of this new vehicle that will assist our Fire Department in serving the citizens of our community" said State Representative Jim Watson (R-97), who sponsored the grant.  "This truck is going to go a long way in ensuring that our fire department in equipped to provide improved fire protection service to all of the residents of the district," said Senator Vince Demuzio.
