Statement from Governor Rod R. Blagojevich

CHICAGO - "Today we mourn the loss of a diligent public servant and a generous friend.

 

"My deepest sympathies go out to the family of Senator Vince Demuzio, his wife Deanna, his children Brad and Stephanie, and their families.

 

"Senator Demuzio had a tough exterior, but a heart of gold.  He was a real force at the negotiating table, but along the way, he made countless friends and won the respect and admiration of people from both political parties, inside and outside state government. 

 

"As the most senior member of state Senate, Vince Demuzio provided sound guidance and insight on issues facing the General Assembly. 

 

"To the people of west Central Illinois, he was a reliable advocate who understood their needs and fought hard to make their lives better. 

 

"We will all remember Vince Demuzio as a thoughtful, committed lawmaker whose example will continue to influence our state government for years to come."
