CHICAGO -- Governor George H. Ryan today announced that global e-Marketplace Transora will establish its permanent global headquarters at 10 South Riverside Plaza in Chicago's West Loop. The company's new home will eventually accommodate more than 250 employees.
"Illinois is committed to further enhancing the strength of our business climate and our workforce," said Governor Ryan. "Transora's selection of Chicago for its international headquarters reinforces that our policies are cultivating a prosperous environment for tech firms."
The Illinois Department of Commerce and Community Affairs (DCCA) is using the
Industrial Training Program (ITP) to assist Transora in providing job training for as many as 225 new workers. The company may also be eligible for tax credits through the
Economic Development for a Growing Economy (EDGE) program.
"The Governor has set in place economic development policies that invest heavily in Illinois workers," said DCCA Director Pam McDonough. "An announcement of this caliber, which relies on a high-quality workforce, shows that it has been a wise investment."
Transora is one of the world's largest open, standards-based business-to-business (B2B) eMarketplaces for the global consumer products industry. Since the company was founded last summer, Transora has maintained its temporary headquarters at 547 West
Jackson Boulevard, and also operates a European regional headquarters located in
Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The new offices will accommodate all of Transora's mission-critical operations including the company's senior management, operations, business development, marketing and customer care center.
"Chicago's accessibility and high-tech infrastructure make the city an ideal place for Transora to call home," said Judy Sprieser, Transora's CEO. "In addition, Chicago's enormous pool of talented business and technology professionals - including graduates from the nation's top-ranking business schools - helps support Transora's ongoing recruitment needs as we develop services that will transform the world's consumer products industry."
