First Lady Patti Blagojevich hosts Easter Egg Hunt

Press Release - Thursday, April 06, 2006

SPRINGFIELD - First Lady Patti Blagojevich, along with her daughters Amy and Annie, hosted an Easter Egg Hunt Thursday afternoon at the Executive Mansion for children from the Springfield Boys and Girls Club. Joined by Mrs. Illinois/America 2006 Julie Rinehart of Flora, Mrs. Blagojevich and the children enjoyed games, crafts projects, and a magic show.

Children participating in the Easter Egg Hunt not only found candy in their eggs - ten tickets to the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum were also hidden.  The Museum, which opened to the public just under a year ago, is the largest presidential museum in the country.  Of special interest to children is Mrs. Lincoln's Attic, which features period games, a doll-house reproduction of the Lincoln Home, and a dress-up area where kids can try on clothes from the 1800s, among other activities.

Children also had their picture taken with the Easter Bunny, guessed the number of jelly beans in a jar, and learned more about the Children's Reading Club - a recommended reading list made up of books First Lady Patti Blagojevich and her daughters enjoy at home.  The Reading Club's April book selection is Number the Stars by Lois Lowry.
