$1.2 Million in Illinois FIRST Projects for the West Suburbs

SPRINGFIELD -- Governor George H. Ryan announced today that he is releasing $1.2 million in Illinois FIRST funding for projects in the west suburbs, including $750,000 to North Central College in Naperville to complete the interior construction of its football/track stadium and to construct five classrooms, a computer lab, a health center, a counseling office, eighteen faculty and coaches offices and office space for student services. The college is contributing $786,918.

This Illinois FIRST project was initiated by State Rep. Mary Lou Cowlishaw, R-Naperville.

Other Illinois FIRST grants announced by Ryan:

  • $350,000 to the City of Lockport for the phase I engineering of a proposed bridge that will connect Caton Farm Road to Bruce Road.
    This project was initiated by State Sen. Ed Petka, R-Plainfield.

  • $100,000 to the Association for Individual Development, Aurora, to purchase two new minivans and one full size van.
    This project was initiated by State Rep. Patricia Reid Lindner, R-Aurora.
