Ryan Announces $463,300 In Illinois First Funds For Bourbonnais

Press Release - Wednesday, April 19, 2000

SPRINGFIELD -- Governor George H. Ryan today announced $463,300 in Illinois FIRST funds for road and intersection improvements at Indian Oaks Road and US 45 in Bourbonnais.

"Economic development and job creation require the public and private sectors to work together," Ryan said. "As one of the partners, the state provides the needed road improvements."

The project will accommodate traffic growth generated by the expansion of the Connecticut General Life Insurance Company (CIGNA) processing center. The expansion of CIGNA's operation will add 800 new jobs to the firm's current 500.

"Illinois FIRST can make a difference, as this partnership illustrates," Ryan said. The $463,300 grant comes from the Economic Development Program administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation. That program specifically targets transportation improvements to help communities retain or attract business and associated job.

Funding for the project was made possible by Illinois FIRST, Governor Ryan's far-reaching initiative that included additional revenues to rebuild and modernize the state's roads and brides.
