Governor Releases $20,000 Grant For Park Improvement In Ottawa
SPRINGFIELD -- Governor George H. Ryan today released
a $20,000 grant to the City of Ottawa to fund improvements at Peck Park,
a community recreational facility located on Ottawas south side.
"This grant will assist in the citys
plan to expand the park, providing improved access and enhanced recreational
opportunities for families in Ottawa," Ryan said.
The grant will fund construction of an access road
and new parking area for the existing 7.9 - acre addition adjacent to
the park.
The community park includes ball fields, tennis
courts, playground and picnic facilities.
The $20,000 grant for park improvements in Ottawa
was appropriated by the General Assembly through the Illinois Department
of Natural Resources. The funds were included in the FY 2000 budget
at the request of state Representative Frank Mautino (D - Spring Valley).
