Ryan: $290,000 in Illinois FIRST Projects for the Rockford Area

SPRINGFIELD -- Governor George H. Ryan announced today that he is releasing $290,000 in Illinois FIRST funding for projects in the Rockford area, including $100,000 to the Shabbona Community Fire Protection District to purchase a new fire truck. The district is contributing $60,000.

This Illinois FIRST project was initiated by State Rep. David A. Wirsing, R-Sycamore.

Other Illinois FIRST grants announced by Ryan:

  • $50,000 to the Village of Maple Park to construct a deep well. A $110,000 contribution is being made from a Kane County Community Development Block Grant.
    This project was initiated by Wirsing.

  • $50,000 to the Somonauk Fire Protection District to purchase a new command vehicle and breathing air-packs.
    This project was initiated by Wirsing.

  • $45,000 to the Village of Lee to install a new water storage tank and to make piping modifications in and around the new waterworks building.
    This project was initiated by Wirsing.

  • $25,000 to the Valley West Community Hospital to purchase arthroscopic equipment.
    This project was initiated by State Sen. Brad Burzynski, R-Sycamore.

  • $20,000 to the Village of Poplar Grove to purchase and install an early warning siren unit.
    This project was initiated by State Rep. Ronald A. Wait, R-Belvidere.
