Ryan: $160,500 in Illinois FIRST Projects for Central Illinois

SPRINGFIELD -- Governor George H. Ryan announced today that he is releasing $160,500 in Illinois FIRST funding for projects in Central Illinois, including $50,000 for the creation and implementation of new and replacement video.

This will enable health care, social service agencies, community service organizations and educators to obtain valuable information about Lifeline services to their clients.

This Illinois FIRST project was initiated by State Sen. George P. Shadid, D-Pekin.

Other Illinois FIRST grants announced by Ryan:

  • $30,000 to Bradford Community Fire Protection District to purchase a new fire truck. Approximately $131,000 in local funds will be used towards the purchase.
    This Project was initiated by David R. Leitch, R-Peoria.

  • $30,000 to the Village of Odell to purchase a truck to be used for hauling gravel and asphalt in the summer and snow plowing in the winter. The village is contributing $29,524.
    This project was initiated by State Rep. Dan Rutherford, R-Pontiac.

  • $25,000 to Peoria Public Library to partially fund a bookmobile.
    This project was initiated by State Sen. George P. Shadid, D-Pekin.

  • $14,500 to the Ford Iroquois County Health Department to replace the roof on the Paxton office.
    This project was initiated by State Sen. John W. Maitland, Jr., R-Bloomington.

  • $6,000 to Roberts Police Department for the purchase of a car video system.
    This project was initiated by State Rep. Dan Rutherford, R-Pontiac.

  • $5,000 to the Illinois Salers Association to support the 2001 Saler's National Jr. Heifer Show and Forum.
    This project was initiated by David R. Leitch, R-Peoria.
