$736,000 in Illinois FIRST Projects for the Far Northwest Suburbs

SPRINGFIELD -- Governor George H. Ryan announced today that he is releasing $736,000 in Illinois FIRST funding for projects in the far Northwest suburbs, including $400,000 to the Village of Burlington to update and repair water mains.

All existing water mains, hydrants and valve vaults will be replaced. The parkways and streets will be restored and the final inspection and testing of the updated system will be completed.

This project was initiated by State Rep. Patricia Reid Lindner, R-Aurora.

Other Illinois FIRST grants announced by Ryan:

  • $100,000 to the Fox River Trolley Association to extend the trolley track into the Blackhawk Forest Preserve. The association is contributing $270,000. This project was initiated by State Sen. Doris C. Karpiel, R-Carol Stream.

  • $63,200 to the Village of Spring Grove to construct additional space to the village hall and to purchase new computers. The village is contributing $54,782.
    This project was initiated by State Sen. Dick Klemm, R-Crystal Lake.

  • $60,300 to the City of Elgin to construct the Dam Overlook Plaza. The city is contributing $4,440,000.
    This project was initiated by State Rep. Douglas L. Hoeft, R-Elgin.

  • $50,000 to the City of Woodstock to construct an addition to the Woodstock Opera House. The city is contributing $1,468,900.
    This project was initiated by Klemm.

  • $25,000 to the Outside Exhibition Group to construct an American Flag sculpture on Walton Island in downtown Elgin. The organization is contributing $75,000.
    This project was initiated by Hoeft.

  • $10,000 to the Family Health Partnership for general operating expenses.
    This project was initiated by House Republican Leader Lee A. Daniels, R-Elmhurst.

  • $10,000 to Home of the Sparrow to hire a shelter coordinator. The organization is contributing $22,480.
    This project was initiated by Daniels.

  • $7,500 to the City of Crystal Lake to purchase a radar speed monitoring trailer unit.
    This project was initiated by Klemm.

  • $5,000 to the Adult & Child Rehabilitation Center of McHenry to make improvements to its facility.
    This project was initiated by Klemm.

  • $5,000 to the Northwest Area Arts Council to purchase a printer, a digital camera and camera accessories and software.
    This project was initiated by Klemm.
