$260,500 in Illinois FIRST Projects for the Rockford Area

SPRINGFIELD -- Governor George H. Ryan announced today that he is releasing $260,500 in Illinois FIRST funding for projects in the Rockford area, including $150,000 to the City of Byron to repair sidewalks, curbs and gutters on Second Street from Washington Street to Chestnut Street.

This Illinois FIRST project was initiated by State Sen. Bradley Burzynski, R-Sycamore.

Other Illinois FIRST grants announced by Ryan:

  • $60,000 to the Waterman Community Fire Protection District to purchase a new ambulance. The village is contributing $29,000.

  • $15,500 to the Ethnic Heritage Musuem to update and make improvements to the museum and annex.
