$730,000 in Illinois FIRST Projects for North Central Illinois

SPRINGFIELD -- Governor George H. Ryan announced today that he is releasing $730,000 in Illinois FIRST funding for projects in North Central Illinois, including $100,000 to the Warren County Sheriff's Department to purchase a four-wheel drive truck and safety equipment.

The equipment will include a defibrillator kit, a walk through metal detector, a prisoner safety seat, a gun safe, guns, night sticks/holders, computers, cell phones, digital cameras, flash lights, tactical uniforms, and night vision equipment.

This Illinois FIRST project was initiated by State Rep. Donald L. Moffitt, R-Gilson.

Other Illinois FIRST grants announced by Ryan:

  • $100,000 to the Marshall County Highway Department to purchase a grader. The county is contributing $30,000.
    This project was initiated by State Rep. Dan Rutherford, R-Chenoa.

  • $82,000 to the Village of Annawan to demolish and remove elevator buildings.
    This project was initiated by Moffitt.

  • $60,000 to the Galesburg Hospital Ambulance Service to purchase three cardiac monitors.
    This project was initiated by Moffitt.

  • $40,000 to the Alpha Oxford Fire Protection District to purchase a fire truck.
    This project was initiated by Moffitt.

  • $40,000 to the Monmouth Fire Department to purchase fire and safety equipment.
    This project was initiated by Moffitt.

  • $40,000 to the Rio Fire Protection District to purchase protective gear, pagers and mobile radios. This project was initiated by Moffitt.

  • $40,000 to the Victoria Copley Fire District to make improvements to its fire station. The district is contributing $20,000.
    This project was initiated by Moffitt.

  • $40,000 to the Annawan-Alba Fire Protection District to purchase a new fire truck.
    This project was initiated by Moffitt.

  • $40,000 to the Habitat for Humanity in Peoria for sidewalk/curb cuts, site grading and fill/storm sewer improvements in the Ridgewood Knolls subdivision.
    This project was initiated by State Sen. George P. Shadid, D-Edwards.

  • $35,000 to the LaSalle County Sheriff's Department to purchase 12 defibrillators.
    This project was initiated by Rutherford.

  • $20,000 to the Streator Fire Department to purchase a thermal imaging camera and rescue equipment.
    This project was initiated by Rutherford.

  • $20,000 to Bridgeway, Inc., to renovate the Hawthorne Center facility.
    This project was initiated by Moffitt.

  • $20,000 to the Sheffield Fire Protection District to refurbish a fire truck. The district is contributing $330,000.
    This project was initiated by Moffitt.

  • $20,000 to the Wyoming Community Fire Protection District to make electrical upgrades at its fire station.
    This project was initiated by State Rep. David R. Leitch, R-Peoria.

  • $10,500 to the Mineral Fire Department in Galesburg to purchase a thermal imaging camera.
    This project was initiated by Moffitt.

  • $10,000 to the Warren Achievement Center to purchase educational, recreational and rehabilitation supplies and to offset the recreation fees for participants' special outing.
    This project was initiated by Moffitt.

  • $10,000 to the Abingdon Community Festival Association to make electrical upgrades, restroom and bleacher improvements and to purchase a tractor for its festival grounds.
    This project was initiated by Moffitt.

  • $2,500 to the Knox County Area Project to implement a program which will teach children rules and procedures about being alone at home.
    This project was initiated by Moffitt.
