Liquor Control Commission April Underage Compliance Report

SPRINGFIELD - In April the Illinois Liquor Control Commission (ILCC) conducted compliance checks around the state and visited 125 businesses licensed to sell liquor.  They cited 32 licensees for violations of liquor control laws.  Seventy-five percent of the licensees visited complied with Illinois liquor laws and refused to serve underage customers.

This report is a result of ongoing undercover and cooperative law enforcement operations conducted by Illinois Liquor Control Commission (ILCC) agents and local law enforcement officials and volunteers from high schools and colleges.  The teams randomly visit liquor stores, restaurants and bars in communities around the state to check for ongoing compliance with state laws mandating that no liquor is sold to minors under the age of 21. ILCC agents also work with local and state law enforcement agents to focus on communities with a high incidence of underage liquor sales.

Batavia - On April 14th, 2010 ILCC Special Agents and the Batavia Police Department conducted underage alcohol compliance checks in Batavia. Of 21 licensees checked, four licensees were in violation of selling alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

• KL Liquor and Pantry, 1351 Wind Energy Pass
• Tinu Liquor, 135 First St.
• R & S Cardinal Liquors, 415 E. Wilson
• Chuck E Cheese, 511 N. Randall

Cumberland, Clark and Crawford Counties - On April 29th, 2010 ILCC Special Agents and District 12 of the Illinois State Police conducted underage alcohol compliance checks in Cumberland, Clark and Crawford Counties. Of the 16 licensee's checked, five licensees were in violation of selling alcohol to ILCC underage participants. This was part of the ILCC Operation Prom. Those licensees were:

• Casey Pizza Hut, 925 N. RT # 49, Casey
• American Legion Post # 566, 112 W. Cumberland, Greenup
• Greenup IGA, 201 E. Cumberland, Greenup
• Corner Tavern, 424 Archer Ave, Marshall
• Don Nola, 117 N. Cross, Robinson

Danville - On April 22nd, 2010 ILCC Special Agents and the Danville Police Department conducted alcohol underage compliance checks in Danville. Of the 29 licensee's checked, 11 licensees were in violation of selling alcohol to ILCC underage participants. This was part of the ILCC Operation Prom. Those licensees were;

• Club H24, 24 N. Hazel
• Main Street Liquor, 732 E. Main Street
• Hoagie's, 1114 E. Voorhies
• K & J's, 118 Vanburen
• Jocko's Depot, 305 W. Williams
• CVS / Pharmacy # 6936, 900 E. Main Street
• Big Four Tavern, 620 N. Vermilion
• My Brothers Liquor, 536 E. Main Street
• JJ's 610 Tap, 610 N. Vermilion
• Floyd's Bar & Grill, 853 E. Fairchild
• County Market Village Mall, 2917 N. Vermilion

Jefferson and Franklin Counties -- On April 20th, 2010 ILCC Special Agents and District 13 of the Illinois State Police conducted underage alcohol compliance checks in Jefferson and Franklin Counties. Of the 25 licensees checked, four licensees were in violation of selling alcohol to ILCC underage participants. This detail was part of the ILCC Operation Prom. The licensees were:

• Sandy's Bar & Grill, 109 E. Main, Benton
• CK's Korner Pub, 111 N. Main, Benton
• City Limit's Bar, 1307 E. Main, Benton
• Boneyard Bar, 621 S. Wilson St. Benton

Livingston County - On April 1st, 2010 ILCC Special Agents and the Livingston County Sheriff's Department conducted underage alcohol compliance checks in Livingston County. Of the 19 licensees checked, five were in violation of selling alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

• Elliott's Corner Junction, 826 N. Ladd, Pontiac
• The Engine Room, 721 W. Washington, Pontiac
• Pour Richards Tap & Dining, 210 Tremont St., Odel
• Rentz's Tap & Dining, 210 S. Waupan St., Odel
• Rider's Roadhouse, 514 E. Locust St., Chatsworth (This licensee was also charged with three counts of gambling)

Macoupin - On April 16th, 2010 ILCC Special Agents and District 18 of the Illinois State Police conducted underage alcohol compliance checks in Macoupin County. Of the 15 licensee's checked, three licensees were in violation of selling alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

• Circle K # 1231, 1000 N. Springfield, Virden
• The Cooler, 123 E. Main St., Staunton (this licensee was also charged with gambling)
• Hurley's Main St., Saloon, 113 W. Main St., Mt Olive
