Statement from Governor Pat Quinn Regarding Passing of Rep. Eddie Washington

CHICAGO – June 5, 2010. Governor Pat Quinn today issued a statement regarding the sudden death of Rep. Eddie Washington (D-Waukegan).

“The sudden death of Representative Eddie Washington comes as a shock to all of us who were fortunate to know and work with him. I have known Eddie Washington for many years as a good man with a servant’s heart who worked diligently for the people of the sixtieth district.

Since joining the Illinois House of Representatives in 2003 as the first African American legislator from Lake County, Eddie has served faithfully. The people of his district and the State of Illinois have lost a great man.

I am deeply saddened by his passing, and my thoughts and prayers are with Eddie Washington’s wife and seven children on this sad day.”
