$892,000 in Illinois FIRST Projects for Lake County
SPRINGFIELD -- Governor George H. Ryan announced today that he is releasing $892,000 in Illinois FIRST funding for projects in Lake County, including $215,000 to the Village of Lake Bluff to make intersection improvements at Routes 131 and 176.
This Illinois FIRST project was initiated by State Rep. Susan Garrett, D-Lake Forest.
Other Illinois FIRST grants announced by Ryan:
- $125,000 to the Village of Lake Zurich to reconstruct a storm water retention pond. The village is contributing $34,350.
This project was initiated by State Rep. Sidney H. Mathias, R-Buffalo Grove. - $100,000 to the Gurnee Park District for architectural and engineering work on a new public swimming pool.
This project was initiated by State Sen. Adeline J. Geo-Karis, R-Zion. - $80,000 to the Zion Fire Rescue Department to purchase a new radio communication system and to make upgrades to its computer system.
This project was initiated by Geo-Karis. - $75,000 to Grant Township to construct a kitchen, accessible restrooms and a store room and to install heating and air conditioning at its new township administration building. The township is contributing $1,162,771.
This project was initiated by State Rep. Timothy H. Osmond, R-Antioch. - $70,000 to the Village of Mundelein to purchase furniture, furnishings and computer equipment for its new police station. The village is contributing $445,000.
This project was initiated by Geo-Karis. - $50,000 to the Lake County Crisis Center for the Prevention & Treatment of Domestic Violence, d.b.a. A Safe Place, to purchase furniture and equipment for a satellite office in the western part of Lake County and to replace windows in the residential part of its original shelter.
This project was initiated by State Sen. Terry Link, D-Vernon Hills. - $30,000 to the Lake Villa Volunteer Fire Department to purchase two thermal imaging cameras.
This project was initiated by Geo-Karis. - $30,000 to Lake County Enterprises, Inc. to purchase a van/insurance and a stove with a required fire prevention system.
This project was initiated by House Republican Leader Lee A. Daniels of Elmhurst. - $30,000 to the City of Highwood to construct an addition to its fire station. The city is contributing $71,720.
This project was initiated by State Rep. Karen May, D-Highland Park. - $25,000 to the Lindenhurst Park District to purchase playground equipment for Slove Park.
This project was initiated by Osmond. - $25,000 to the Lake County Health Department and Community Health Center to purchase dental equipment for two of its facilities.
This project was initiated by May. - $25,000 to the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago to implement an adult day care program in Deerfield for clients with early-stage dementia and Alzheimer's Disease. The organization will receive $139,914 from private donors and foundations.
This project was initiated by Link. - $10,000 to the Zion Historical Society to make improvements to the Shiloh House.
This project was initiated by Osmond. - $2,000 to Bear Magic in Lake County to purchase 394 new stuffed bears that will be donated to traumatized children and lonely, forgotten elderly in Lake County.
