SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Eighteen Illinois food companies will give away free samples of their products in the Department of Agriculture Tent at the 2010 Illinois State Fair.
The companies featured will rotate daily, according to Marketing Representative Larry Aldag.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for Illinois food companies that don’t have large marketing budgets to introduce their products to thousands of potential customers and build name recognition,” Aldag said. “Our goal, of course, is to create demand for Illinois food products so grocers will stock more of them on their shelves.”
The participating companies produce a wide variety of products, including homemade noodles, natural and organic candies, chili seasonings, salsas and barbecue sauces.
The companies and the days they are scheduled to sample products follows:

Food sampling will occur daily throughout the fair from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. A list of the products to be offered is available by visiting the Illinois Department of Agriculture Bureau of Marketing and Promotion on Facebook. The Department of Agriculture Tent will be located in the Gate 2 area near “Farmer’s Little Helpers,” a new, interactive, children’s exhibit.
The Illinois State Fair is scheduled Aug. 13-22.
