$5,527,200 in Illinois FIRST Projects for the Western Suburbs

SPRINGFIELD -- Governor George H. Ryan announced today that he is releasing $5,527,000 in Illinois FIRST funding for projects in the Western Suburbs, including $5,000,000 to the Fox River Water Reclamation District for the construction of gravity sewers, force mains and pumping stations for wastewater conveyance and improvements to potable water treatment and distribution facilities.

Other Illinois FIRST grants announced by Ryan:

  • $500,000 to the Village of Romeoville to construct street lighting on 135th Street from Weber Road to Illinois Route 53.
    This project was initiated by State Sen. Ed Petka, R-Plainfield.

  • $27,200 to the Village of Montgomery to construct permanent traffic signals at the intersection of U.S. Route 30 and 5th Street.
    This project was initiated by State Rep. Timothy L. Schmitz, R-Batavia.
