CHAMPAIGN - The Illinois Department of Veterans’ Affairs (IDVA) hosted Helping Our Hometown Heroes benefits fair for veterans today at the State Regional Office Building, 2125 S. 1st Street, Champaign, to assist veterans with accessing benefits information from federal, state and local agencies and organizations.
“Helping Our Hometown Heroes give veterans and their families the assistance they need in one location,” said IDVA Director Dan Grant. “It is a great resource for veterans to learn about and tap into all the benefits they have earned and are entitled to receive. I urge all veterans, their families, friends, and members of the community to support these events.”
Wednesday’s event was free and open to the public, and was held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. More than a dozen federal, state and local agencies and organizations participated, including Illinois Worknet Center, the University of Illinois Career Center, U.S. Army Wounded Warriors, Busey Bank VA Home Loans and Parkland College Veterans Services, among others.
The event was the latest in a series of Helping Our Hometown Heroes events being held statewide through October 28th. For more information, please visit www.veterans.illinois.gov.
