BENTON - The Illinois Department of Veterans’ Affairs (IDVA) hosted Helping Our Hometown Heroes benefits fair for veterans today at the American Legion/VFW Hall, 311 S. Main Street, Benton, to assist veterans with accessing benefits information from federal, state and local agencies and organizations.
“Helping Our Hometown Heroes give veterans and their families the assistance they need in one location,” said IDVA Director Dan Grant. “It is a great resource for veterans to learn about and tap into all the benefits they have earned and are entitled to receive. I urge all veterans, their families, friends, and members of the community to support these events.”
The event was free and open to the public, and was held from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. More than two dozen federal, state and local agencies and organizations participated, including the Illinois Veterans’ Home at Anna, Illinois Department of Employment Security, Marion VA Medical Center, Franklin County Hospital, and the Illinois National Guard, among others.
The event was the latest in a series of Helping Our Hometown Heroes events being held statewide through October 28th. For more information, please visit www.veterans.illinois.gov.
