Ryan: $405,000 in Illinois FIRST Projects for Central Illinois

SPRINGFIELD -- Governor George H. Ryan announced today that he is releasing $405,000 in Illinois FIRST funding for projects in Central Illinois, including $100,000 to the Village of Loami for the remodeling and repair of the Jacob Building for use as government offices and a community center.

Once the construction work is done, the building will house the police department, water and sewer departments. There will be space for a satellite library, as well as community meeting rooms.

This Illinois FIRST project was initiated by State Rep. Gwenn Klingler, R-Springfield.

Other Illinois FIRST projects announced by Ryan:

  • $100,000 to the Springfield Children's Museum to help with equipment, literature and general operating costs.
    This project was initiated by Klingler.

  • $100,000 to Sangamon County for the purchase of a rescue vehicle for the Sangamon County Rescue Squad.
    This project was initiated by Klingler.

  • $50,000 to the Village of Williamsville for the extension of the village's water main to Lawn View Acres subdivision, providing 30 homes with reliable drinking water.
    This project was initiated by State Sen. Larry Bomke, R-Springfield.

  • $30,000 to the Chatham Fire Protection District to help purchase a new pumper truck to serve the district's 13,000 residents.
    This project was initiated by Klingler.

  • $25,000 to the Village of Coffeen to replace a leaking water line that serves a grade school and nine homes in the village.
    This project was initiated by State Rep. Gary Hannig, D-Litchfield.
