Ryan: $351,500 in Illinois FIRST Projects for McHenry and Kane Counties

SPRINGFIELD -- Governor George H. Ryan announced today that he is releasing $351,500 in Illinois FIRST funding for projects in McHenry and Kane counties, including $300,000 to the Village of Algonquin to help fund environmental and recreational improvements along the Fox River shore.

The improvements are part of the village's Riverfront Redevelopment Plan. The work will include the construction a canoe ramp, fishing stations, a riverside fishing shelter, a river path and a basketball court. The village is contributing $182,000 and the Department of Natural Resources is contributing $175,800.

This Illinois FIRST project was initiated by State Rep. Cal Skinner, R-Crystal Lake.

Other Illinois FIRST projects announced by Ryan:

  • $14,000 to Senior Services, Inc. of Elgin for the installation of a new telephone system. The agency serves 14,000 seniors in a year.
    This project was initiated by State Sen. Steve Rauschenberger, R-Elgin.

  • $7,500 to the City of Harvard to help purchase digital cameras for police use.
    This project was initiated by State Sen. Dick Klemm, R-Crystal Lake.

  • $7,500 to the Village of Algonquin to help purchase a "speed trailer" unit that automatically informs motorists when they're breaking speed limit laws.
    This project was initiated by Klemm.

  • $7,500 to the City of McHenry to purchase video equipment and speed radar equipment for the police department.
    This project was initiated by Klemm.

  • $7,500 to the Village of Wonder Lake to purchase a "speed trailer" unit.
    This project was initiated by Klemm.

  • $7,500 to the City of Woodstock to purchase a "speed trailer" unit.
    This project was initiated by Klemm.
