Liquor Control Commission May Underage Compliance Report

SPRINGFIELD – In May the Illinois Liquor Control Commission (ILCC) conducted compliance checks around the state and visited 174 businesses licensed to sell liquor.  They cited 44 licensees for violations of liquor control laws.  Seventy-five percent of the licensees visited complied with Illinois liquor laws and refused to serve underage customers.

This report is a result of ongoing undercover and cooperative law enforcement operations conducted by Illinois Liquor Control Commission (ILCC) agents and local law enforcement officials and volunteers from high schools and colleges.  The teams randomly visit liquor stores, restaurants and bars in communities around the state to check for ongoing compliance with state laws mandating that no liquor is sold to minors under the age of 21. ILCC agents also work with local and state law enforcement agents to focus on communities with a high incidence of underage liquor sales.

Christian and Sangamon Counties – On May 26, 2011, an ILCC Special Agent assisted by ISP District # 9 conducted an underage compliance check at 10 businesses in Christian and Sangamon Counties.  Two of the targeted businesses failed.  The licensees that failed were: 

• Oranges Bar & Grill, 29 S. Locust, Pana
• Loading Zone, 2100 W. Spresser, Taylorville

Clinton County – On May 12th, 2011 ILCC Special Agents and the Illinois State Police District 11 conducted alcohol underage compliance in Clinton County. Of the 11 licensees checked, four sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

• Hoosier Daddy’s, 20727 St. Route 127, Carlyle
• Jay’s Flamingo, 1191 Fairfax St., Carlyle
• Risky Business, 1011 Fairfax St., Carlyle
• Valbo’s Restaurant, 307 Munster St., Germantown


Jefferson and Franklin Counties – On May 12, 2011, an ILCC Special Agent assisted by ISP District # 13 conducted an underage compliance check at 21 businesses in Jefferson and Franklin Counties.  Two of the targeted businesses failed.  The licensees that failed were:

• Scheller Playhouse, 4409 Scheller Lane, Scheller
• Train Wreck, Inc., 115 Railroad Street, Benton

Machesney Park and Loves Park – On May 23rd 2011 ILCC Special Agents and the Illinois State Police from District 16 conducted alcohol underage compliance checks in Machesney Park and Loves Park. Of the 10 licensees checked, five sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

• PPRW, 11225 N 2nd Street, Machesney Park
• Hy-Vu Motel & Sports Bar, 11700 N 2nd Street, Machesney
• Rocky’s of Loves Park, 5314 N 2nd Street, Loves Park
• 2nd Street Marathon, 6430 E. Riverside Blvd., Loves Park
• Fiesta Cancun Authentic Mexican, 1508 E. Riverside Park, Loves Park

Macon County – On May 4, 2011, an ILCC Special Agent assisted by a Macon County Deputy conducted an underage compliance check at 10 businesses in Macon County.  Five of the targeted businesses failed.  The licensees that failed were:

• The Finish Line   225 N. Front St., Macon
• Macon Petroleum, Inc.  399 E. Andrews, Macon
• JJ’s Whoa & Go   1555 W. Main St., Mt. Zion
• Filippo’s   435 N. State Hwy 121, Mt. Zion                                                                        
• Casey’s General Store # 1913   150 S. St. Rte. 121, Warrensburg

Madison County – On May 25, 2011, an ILCC Special Agent assisted by ISP District # 11 conducted an underage compliance check at 21 businesses in Madison County.  Four of the targeted businesses failed.  The licensees that failed were:

• Lyle’s, 6204 E. Main, Maryville
• Carrollwood Servicing Center, 913 Edwardsville Rd, Troy
• My Brothers Place, 117 E. Market, Troy
• Sunset Inn Again, 8819 State Rte. 162, Troy

Madison County – On May 26, 2011, an ILCC Special Agent assisted by ISP District # 11 conducted an underage compliance check at 19 businesses in Madison County.  Two of the targeted businesses failed.  The licensees that failed were:

• Ref’s Place, 1017 Main St., Highland
• Cypress Lounge of Highland, 1222 Broadway, Highland

 
Montgomery County – On May 20th, 2011 ILCC Special Agents and the Illinois State Police District 18 conducted alcohol underage compliance checks in Montgomery County. Of the 15 licensees checked, four sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

• Clark- Hillsboro, 1533 Vandalia Rd., Hillsboro
• T-Teez, 121 E. State, Irving
• Jr’s Mini Mart, 610 Washington, Donnellson
• Denny’s Package Liquor, 215 Old Rte. # 66, Litchfield

Pekin – On May 18th, 2011 ILCC Special Agents and the Pekin Police department conducted alcohol underage compliance checks in Pekin. Of the 19 licensees checked, three sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

• Club Grind, 17 N. 4th St., Pekin
• Kouri’s Pub, 2929 Court St., Pekin
• Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill, 3540 Court St., Pekin

Peoria – On May 25, 2011 ILCC Special Agents and the Peoria Police Department conducted alcohol underage compliance checks in Peoria. Of the 10 licensees checked, five sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

• Buffalo Wild Wings, 5121 W. America Prairie Drive, Peoria
• Yen Ching Chinese Restaurant, 6936B University, Peoria
• Good Tequilas, 5025 W. America Prairie Drive, Peoria
• Los Jimadores, 7723 N. University, Peoria
• Jalapenos, 7800 Sommer St., Peoria

Rockford – On May 16th, 2011 ILCC Special Agents and the Illinois State Police from District 16 conducted alcohol underage compliance checks in Rockford. Of the 15 licensees checked, four sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

• Guadalajara Restaurant & Lounge, 1118 S. Main, Rockford
• Liquor Land, 3305 11th Street, Rockford
• Northtown Liquor, 910 W. Riverside Blvd, Rockford
• Hacienda El Patron, 3929 Broadway Suites 10, 11, 12, 13, Rockford

Rockford – On May 31st, 2011 ILCC Special Agents and the Illinois State Police from District 16 conducted alcohol underage compliance checks in Rockford. Of the 13 licensees checked, four sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

• RBI’s, 3870 N. Perryville, Rockford
• Thunder Bay Grille, 7652 Potawatomi Trail, Rockford
• Gerry’s Pizza, 7403 Argus Dr., Rockford
• Lyford Road Mobil, 8061 E. State St., Rockford
