Ryan: $417,500 in Illinois FIRST Projects for Rockford
SPRINGFIELD -- Governor George H. Ryan announced today that he is releasing $417,500 in Illinois FIRST funding for projects in Rockford, including $230,000 to Winnebago Community Unit District 323 to offset the cost of the acquisition of 46 acres of land.
Due to Rockford's expansion to the west, the land will be the future site of a school building and supporting infrastructure. Purchase of the land will assure an adequate school site. The district is contributing $279,850.
This Illinois FIRST project was initiated by State Rep. Dave Winters, R-Rockford.
Other Illinois FIRST grants announced by Ryan:
- $70,000 to Access Services of Northern Illinois, Loves Park to upgrade computers and to replace a copier and telephone system.
This project was initiated by Winters. - $30,000 to St. Elizabeth Catholic Community Center, Rockford to purchase a van for the senior population.
This project was initiated by State Rep. Doug Scott, D-Rockford. - $27,500 to the Jewish Federation of Greater Rockford to renovate and repair a building.
This project was initiated by Scott. - $20,000 to Regional Access and Mobilization Project, Inc., Rockford to renovate and repair the office. $28,700 is being contributed through donations and fundraisers.
This project was initiated by Scott. - $15,000 to Dekalb County Community Foundation, Sycamore to assist in constructing competition -quality tennis courts at Sycamore High School. The community is contributing $60,629.
This project was initiated by State Rep. David A. Wirsing, R-Dekalb. - $15,000 to North Suburban Library, Loves Park to improve the security of the library. The library is contributing $30,590.
This project was initiated by Winters. - $10,000 to Sauk Valley Community College, Dixon to upgrade technology infrastructure.
This project was initiated by State Sen. Bradley Burzynski, R-Sycamore.
